In the prehistory of Man on the Moon, Tejel et al. applied a prototype of the gas uptake setup to the kinetic investigation of dioxygen activation by dirhodium complexes (follow link below), while Pérez, Nolan and co-workers monitored carbene transfers from ethyl diazoacetate to methanol catalyzed by gold complexes using an initial design of the gas evolution device.
